SAGE Prevention: Children & School-Aged (4-12)
SAGE Prevention helps children build the skills to understand their feelings, express their needs, make thoughtful choices, and care for themselves and others. Through creative restorative experiences, children practice safety, self-awareness, accountability, coping with grief and change, and empathy, building a foundation for connection, confidence, and belonging.
Through stories, art, play, and shared activities, children practice:
- Safety: recognizing their needs, respecting boundaries, and identifying trusted adults.
- Self-awareness: naming feelings, discovering strengths, and developing confidence in who they are.
- Accountability: understanding how choices affect others, taking responsibility, and practicing repair.
- Grief and transitions: expressing feelings about loss or change and finding ways to cope with support.
- Empathy: listening, appreciating differences, cooperating, and building friendships.
These experiences can help children manage frustration, communicate needs, solve problems, and feel a stronger sense of belonging. Activities grow with the child: younger children learn through play and simple choices; older children practice deeper reflection and shared responsibility.
